In his autobiography, Maradona argued that the cause of doping was a power drink called rip fuel, given by his coach. His coach said he gave him a different chemical without realizing it. Argentina was eliminated in the second round that year.

That doping test was the end of Maradona’s national football career. Maradona played on the national team since the age of 17 recorded 34 goals in 91 games.
